DEVELOPMENT DAM PROJECT ON THE RIVER ARROR

Arror River passes throw Gishu highland in vicinity of Kapswar County flowing Arror Fall to Kairo River in Rift Valley .This valley is the Longest in African continent and it is famous in the world. The difference in height between Dam site and deepest point in the Rift Valley is 1200 meters. The Dam site is located in 75 Km North East far from Eldoret city and 250 Km North West of Nairobi-Kenya

With construction of an Earth Core Rock fill Dam - ECRD - Dam and with Height of 93m and foundation at 2175 meters above sea level the reservoir volume would be 64 Million Cubic Meters. The water will flow throw series of pressurized pipes named Penstock with a length of 5 KM which partly would be installed in an access tunnel to downhill and powerhousae. Water by passing through the three Turbine generators, Pelton type, with an output of 60 MW will flow to the a Daily Regulating Pond with a volume 50000 Cubic meters. It generates 157 GWh guaranteed annual energy

According to the conditions, Hydraulic Experts in Naqsh Tarsim Milad (NTM) desgined Earth-filled Balqachi dam with height of 20 meters and width of 400 meters and reservoir volume of 12 million cubic meters at a distance of 2 km upstream of Naghadeh city. The construction of the dam began in 2013 and ended in 2016. The dam now serves as an effective source of water supply for agricultural and drinking needs and to prevent floods and human and financial damage to the people of Naqadeh

First stage studies on Khalifian short embankment dam are being carried out to control floods and to prevent from damage of spring floods to Khalifian village and also to set and save some output of Khalifian River for agricultural and drinking usages. The predicted place for constructing Khalifian short dam is located in six kilometers from east-south of the county Naghadeh, the province, Western Azarbayjan. The basin area of this dam is located in the south of the lake Urumiyeh, with the area 11.8 and the perimeter 15.4 km. The river Khalifian is one of the branches of the river Godarchay and its average annual output is about 3 million.

According to this project, saving and bringing up seasonal floods to date become possible by constructing a short dam across Cham-Sounias River. Furthermore, constructing a dam across this river plays an important role in controlling the region's flood in addition to saving water.The highest mountains in the west of Cham-Sounias River are Belar khoyah and Gardah-Dowlak mountains with the heights 2235 and 2219 m, respectively. Of course, the highest mountains of this region are Gorg-Halalan and Khader-Sharafan mountains in the west-south of the county Piranshahr, with the heights 3000 to 3100 m from sea level and Iran-Iraq borderline is in the ridge of these mountains. This region is a semiarid region with cold winters and mild summers. This basin area is located in the west-south of Urmiah sea with the area 343  and the perimeter 93 km
